I think the classics. You see the list of top 100 American films and what do you see? 90% of them are old movies. What do you think?

The classics. Many of today's movies are more focused on sex and violence rather than a good plot. I love the romance in old movies because it wasn't about sex, it was about love. It seems like the studios' main purpose back then was to entertain and make a good movie and today it's more about making money.

I think the classics. The new movies from the big studios just play it too safe with the same actors and rely heavily on digital effects. The star is almost always too perfect and all the so-called good lines go to him and every one plays off on him. It seems that the big players in the industry won't take risks like they did in the days of films like "Citizen Kane", "The African Queen", "Spartacus", "Lawrence of Arabia", "Dr Zhivago", etc.

Classics by far are better. Without alot of special effects they had to rely on plot instead. Just look:

-One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest (Nicholson)
-Scent of a Woman (Pachino)
-The Shining (Nicholson)
- All the Stooge Movies!
- Scarface! (Pachino)
- The Star Wars Trilogy (not the new ones)
- E.T.
and the list goes on......

Classics every time. Seems that the stories being told in films back then were more important than the stars who were in them.

Mostly classics! There are a few new ones that I like. Or even a couple of re-makes that I prefer to the originals. (Ex.: I prefer the modern versions of Sabrina and Father of the Bride!)
However, I'd say 9 chances out of ten, the classics rule!!!!!!!!!

I think the old ones were the best. They had something to say or showed us history up close. Today's movies are mostly about sex and violence. Notice I didn't say love and romance, just plain sex, which is very boring. Most of the more mature people would sooner stay home read, work on hobbies or what ever. Lust isn't very interesting.

I like the new movies.
Special effects, COLOR (which is a big deal, unless I'm watching Twilight Zone), less delayed sound effects, the women don't all sound the same, and many movies have exciting climaxes.
