Black women wear wigs/extensions and weaves but when other women (I'm speaking of all other ethnicities that are not considered Black or African American) aren't ostracized for it? To me, it just seems that some men (especially Black men) will talk about a Black woman for days if she wears her "accessories" but when others do it (other non Black/African American females), no one says anything-- It's as if it is the accepted thing to do--it's considered in vogue/stylish or what have you .It's not like we don't have a head full of thick hair. We just want to change up the style and acessorize our looks. Any comments on this?

I started getting weaves 6 years ago and I just love them. Even when I had a short style, I used the weaves. I have some really great wigs too. I don't give a rip what anyone else has to say. It's my head and I am going to do the do my way. It brings such variety to your looks and fashions. It keeps people guessing!

How odd, I thought that it was the other way around that ladies weren't black/african american wore hair accessories permanent or not were the ones made fun of. I guess since Paris is doing it ... it's more main stream?

I always personally thought that black/african american woman wore a weave better than other types because it's easier to disguise because of the hair type. Not to mention, most that are non-ethnic (think bottle blonde parade) that have extensions look dumb because the hair doesn't match in texture, & they all have this weird shelf thing going on with their hair. Or the colors don't match.

I wish I could wear extensions, but my hair is too fine & they would look totally obvious & stupid. I think it looks horrible when chicks have these odd little dreadlock extensions going on, the only thing worse is the wax showing or they got ripped off & got a weave & because of their hair texture it's falling out.

Personally, if the guys are spending this much time talking about hair....... they are probably this close to lisping their way into "one of the girls" club. I mean honestly, unless the girl has affixed a windmill & sparklers to her head, how conversation worthy can a hairdo be?

Not to mention, if they aren't recognizing all the time & effort these ladies are putting into looking good....... they aren't worth it. A true man would not make a lady feel self conscious about herself.

Well first all i'm not black.. Second i am white and wear my hair extra short.. ( no Britnany Spears style) I say whatever a woman wants no color involved has the right to do how SHE feels. If a Black woman wants to do those things as in hair weaves and all it should be up to her. If she feels comfortable let her do it.I suppose black women feel the need to look different although I dont know why. But any race has the right to do what they need to do to feel like they are accepted... hair or whatever. Its all in the name of Vanity.I like plain and simple. Short hair and just me. Maybe they are trying to find their look in life something that they think will be OK in the eyes of the on-looker. Hope this helps.

Nowadays, everyone wears weaves (meaning every nationality especially white women) !!! And also there is weave out there that you can't even tell whether it is your hair or not! (Example: Beyonce) In my opinion, if you don't got it... go out and buy it!
