This is one of those types of mother/daughter problems. It was recently my birthday and I just turned 16. My mom gave me $200 to buy whatever I wanted. I wanted a cellphone and she said No. I also already told her I can buy one for cheap and if we go on the same plan together we can both save less (cause she has a cell phone too).

She said: "You can have my old one", "Get a job first", "No", and the ever so popular, "Why do you need one?"

I pretty much think the questions are self explanatory. I mean, why ask me that when you know the answer. Why does anyone get a cell phone? For obvious reasons as safety, business, and communications. C'mon, it's my 16th, I know kids that are 13 and already have cell phones for 3 years. I, personally, don't think I'm asking for much... but then I could be wrong. Tell me what's wrong with this picture and tell me how I can fix it.

Why don't you ask her if you can get a prepaid cell they are fairly inexpensive work great and have no huge surprise bill at the end of the month. I am sure that is what she is probably afraid of or she may not be able to just add you to her contract or she may not want to pay for your service, which is not cheap if you go over the limit. I have know so many people that don't keep track of minutes and have $300 or $400 bills. i got phones like the one in the link below for my kids and you just have to add time every 90 days. they are on sale at target this week for like $18. The service is thru virgin mobile. If you show responsibility with something like that then maybe she will go for a phone with a contract.

The reasons you gave for a cell phone were: "safety, business and communications" . I'll buy the safety argument. What kind of business does a 16 year old conduct? Do you have a job? A lot of kids spend way too much time on their cellphones. Maybe your mom is concerned about that. If she's willing to give you her old one, take it...it's free. Worry about being trendy another time.

I agree everyone has one but I still don't think it's right.
What did kids do before the cell phone. What would be so important that it couldn't wait until you got home to call.
Cell phones are practical in an emergency but how often do you see kids talking ALL THE TIME on them.
Text messaging, game playing etc, etc,
I can understand your mom's side and I can also see the peer pressure "well everyone else has one"
Look at it from another point of view (it happens every new year when everyone calls at the same time). You have an emergency and are unable to connect to the service provider because a million kids are talking about their date. I've seen kids talking to each other from one side of the street. It's nuts

A very sick mama dog is an extremely stressful situation. And I understand your anger at some of the answers that you received. It is normal for you to want to vent back to these folks some of your anger and frustration. So, try to remain calm and keep your focus on your dog & pups. Don't let this cloud your true goal - a healthy dog. And yes, I would love to know this outcome. Kudos to you for your quick action in caring for 7 pups! It isn't easy! I wish that more people would realize that there are situations that stump even the best of vets. While the calicum issue is the most common with these symptoms, it is not the only cause. And your dedication to this dog and her pups is very, very admirable. So, you know that you are responding to this crisis in the best manner possible. You are doing all you can do in an extremely difficult situation. Let God sort out the rest. Peace

heyy.. i don't think any1 is wrong but i think ur mom is telling "no" 'coz she can't afford 2 pay r the bills for ur cell phone... itz not that itz coming for free, and u have to pay something every month to the company... or may be she is saving up for something.. may ur college or university and things far more important than having a cell phone... i think listen to your mom and dont' get one... i'm 15 and i don't have one and there are other ppl in my skool who don't have a cell phone soo there'z nothing 2 be ashamed of...:-)

Offer to get one of the pre-paid ones so that you won't be able to go over the minutes and run up the bill. If she doesn't agree to that, then you need to politely ask her what the real reason is that she doesn't want to have one. Good luck.

you dont need one! you just want one. i got one when i was 14 and my mobile was a brick and i got a job to keep it going. all you will do at your age is rack up a big bill and not have a job to pay it off and your mum will have to save you and it will cost her more money. im on her side, get a job so you can afford to run it yourself!

first, when parents say you can buy whatever you want - they mean you can buy whatever you want as long as i approve of it b/cuz you still live in my house and I have to pay the bills- i.e. the phone bill if you run it up with text mess. etc.
your mom is smarter than you think...
show her you are responsible and i bet she will give in very soon!

I feel like, if you can pay the bill every month, then you can have one! Are you driving? If your not even driving, then you dont need one. But if you are...then yea..tell moms its time to get one.
