with all the exploitation of living things, can anyone explain to me why it's ok to bomb the hell out of the iraqi civilians and then say you'e "pro life?"

mr. phattaphat, you are an idiot. you say that we did not bomb innocent iraqis, HOWEVER, THAT IS NOT TRUE. WE DID, THE FIRST DAY OF WAR.

Both abortion and the war in Iraq are immoral. I am pro-life without exception, and I am also 100% against the war in Iraq. I didn't vote for Bush and I encouraged others not to vote for him. Most of my actively pro-life friends are also against the war. Killing innocent human beings, whether in the womb or in Iraq, is wrong. Don't you agree?

Excellent question.

The basis of morality is the idea that one's actions should maximize happiness and minimize suffering.

From that perspective, aborting an embryo before there is any conscious being that can suffer is a minimally "immoral" act, certainly less immoral than that delicious steak I had for dinner. (I do feel guilty about that poor cow.)

The horrific destruction that Bush and the GOP have wrought upon Iraq CANNOT be morally justified. This lie-based war has only made things worse for everyone.

Bush has issues, unfortunately he also has the world's foremost military, complete with a nuclear arsenal. It's not ok to bomb the hell out of the iraqi civilians, and you can say whatever you want, because in the U.S. you have freedom of speech. Now you know why we say talk is cheap.

Well you have to define morals first! LOL Everyone seems to have different ideas of morals so there will always be debate BUT that being said you're right! The right wingers are very conflicted. They want the government out of their business BUT they want to tell you what you can or can't do? They say they're pro-life trying to save things that aren't even technically alive yet but have no compunction about sending young men to die horribly as they kill civilians? They claim to want less government but they don't mind the government curtailing their civil rights? They say they're Christians but they support an administration that has lied, cheated, and made money doing it at our expense? I don't get it!

That is an excellent question! I have often wondered, myself, how they manage to keep themselves oblivious to the obvious hypocrisy!!!! It's almost as if they think that once you are born, and past a certain age, you no longer matter as a person!!!!

To all the people who thought they had a good answer to that, I would ask, is the "sanctity of life" a temporary thing that you lose when you sin? Or maybe God sees sins as not being equal. There are "big sins" (the ones that the people we kill committed) and "small sins" (the ones we commit). Is that it?

abortion is only immoral if the mother is aborting just because she does not want to have children, abortion is moral if the baby for instance is badly deformed or the mother was raped.if the shores of your country were being invaded by another country, would you expect the military to lay down there arms.and say here its yours.i think you would probably be saying where are the people who are supposed to be protecting us.i think you are a hypocrate.

your premis is wrong; no one, except the "insurgents", "bombed the hell out of Iraqi civilians".. The rules of God concerning individuals are different for citizens than they are for nations.. Christians individually are comanded to honor life as a creation of God.. Nations of God's people are often comanded to war against evil entities that desire to wipe out civilization. Muslim fascists like Hussein, Mymood Iminnajihad(Iran), and little prescious(n.Korea) have for years preached muslim supremacy and hate for Christians and Jews. Hussein just happened to be the first one to push it across the line.. Fyi: Christians are commanded to commit no murder, but if a man does commit murder (of an adult or an unborn person) Christian nations are commanded to stone that murderer to death.. I am pro life, and I am very in favor of killing with extreem predjudice all who with hate danced in the streets after the fall of the twin towers, but herein I am conflicted: because i know they are --most of them-- decieved by those lying prophets of mohammed who preach hatred and murder. They mock God when they mock a nation Called by his name. I trust GWB to make sound judgments-- so far he has shown great wisdom in his deeds.

War is immoral, but at the same time it's necessary. Abortion on the other hand I don't think is. This might be a dumb statement but even if a woman is raped someone will be willing to take that baby in. Give them a chance to live. Not saying Iraq was necessary, I don't think it was. But WW2 very necessary. And at the same time I do support the troops I used to be one but I don't support the decision.
