Why do Liberals tend to classify conservatives as either rascist rednecks, or extrmely rich men?

Keep in mind im a moderate, most of the time conservatives are no better.

Chi guy, you are probably right, but you have to realize that most white people don't think about race anymore, some do, and are outright racist, but it seams that blacks and a lot of minorities want to scream the racist card everytime something bad happens to them, 80% of the time its not true. Though I'll be the first to point out that its wrong when it does happen, and maybe alot of people are subconsciously racist, because people generally tend to be uncomfortable around people they don't know, or people who aren't like them. But we could argue about this for eternity.

Because it makes them feel like they are right no matter what. When you separate yourself from your opponent, it makes it easier to viciously combat and defeat him. If people think that it is impossible for a conservative to be a normal, educated person like themselves, it enables them to view conservatives as outsiders. When this happens, the person is no longer open to even considering conservative thought as an alternative to their own ideas. It is the same technique used by armies to make soldiers more willing to kill the enemy. These prejudices are a tool that is used to control people's opinions and keep them loyal.

When one group does not like another group - usually something derogatory is said that pertains to that group's belief system. Many libs are against guns. If you can visualize an English professor at an Ivy League school sitting in front of his fireplace studying the works of Proust while sipping a mellow brandy- that teacher is more likely to be against violence, and not likely to be off in a field shooting a target with his pistol. The ability to shoot a gun, hunt or aim has no corrolation to the IQ of the person behind the gun, but the implication is usually made that only undereducated, backwoods hillbillies shoot guns. And since they are so "Redneck" (i.e. stupid and uneducated), that means they cannot possibly have anything in common with the more refined, upper-class sensibilities of that same liberal English teacher. As to Conservatives being classified as "rich men" - I do not really see that. Look at George Soros, John Kerry, Ed Kennedy, Sean Penn, Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon, Rosie O'Donnell - these are all pretty liberal in my opinion, and none of them are on the desolate side. Today's Democrat has nothing to do with the "working class blue collar worker". Just like the Republican is not the Ivy League, wealthy W.A.S.P.'y white collar worker. That is a stereotypical figment of the imagination...Judge someone for their beliefs, their character, their morals - don't judge based on a term like "conservative" or "liberal". Our political beliefs are usually shaped by our personal and religious beliefs. Which is why people react as vehemently as they do...

There's idiots and racists in both parties.

Usually its the racist who is fastest to "play the race card."

Democrats claim to be the party that wants to help the poor... by giving the poor freebies.

Republicans clain to want to help the poor learn to earn a living.

Which one is going to be the better plan in the long run?

Give a man a fish and he eat that day. Teach a man to fish and he can feed himself.

as for tax cuts... the lower 10% income families don't pay any income tax. You can't give them a tax cut. Most of the income tax paid in the US is paid by the top 10% income earners. If you give an income tax cut... they're going to bennefit.

But if you give a tax hike, the top money earners just take thier money and toss it in tax shelters so they can legally avoid the taxes. That causes economic slowdowns and in the end its the low mn on the totem pole who loses his job because of the wealthy peoople not buying stuff.

There will be some tax level where maximum taxes are collected. We are not there. Last time taxes were LOWERED more income tax was collected. That in and of itself says that taxes should go down, not up. When lowering taxes reduces income to the government THEN they've taken taxes too low.

There's reality.

We all vote to protect our interests except for the uneducated that listen to and follow the will of their rich bosses.

My great grandfather, from Los Angeles, used to tell of how his rich boss used to take all of his poor employees to the polls, and make them vote, and he would tell them that if they didn't vote Republican they wouldn't have jobs the next day.

My late friend from Long Island told me that the same thing happened to her and her family in New York, and that is why she always voted Republican, but she also added, that once behind the curtain nobody really knew how she voted.

Because the racist rednecks, the extremely rich, and I would add the extremely religious are the most vocal and the loudest conservatives. They're the ones who are the most argumentative, and the ones with whom most Liberals disagree. No one actually thinks that all conservatives fall into any or all of those categories.


On a separate note, I find it interesting that so many of the responses above from conservatives are so defensive, and attack liberals...

The poorer states that you factor out all have larger probabilities of racial minorities. The richer states have larger probabilities of whites. i imagine you're a white supremist for making one of those evaluation. shame on you. also, the richer states have larger inhabitants densities. Maryland and Virginia have falsely higher wealth because of all the tax money it really is forcibly removed from different states and despatched to Washington,DC.

real conservatives are long gone. conservatives believe in small government, civil liberties, the constitution, balanced budget, less spending, less government intrusion.

If this was what the rep party was all about they would be much more popular. instead the rep and dem parties have been hijacked by the NWO
