Doesn't matter- fiction or non. Just something that will be stimulating and engrossing. I haven't read a good book in a long time.

Have you read "Angels & Demons" by Dan Brown? It's a thriller and I think you would find it stimulating & engrossing. Dan Brown wrote this book before "The DaVinci Code". I could hardly wait to go & read it. I lent it to a friend and she loved it, too. I have more great 'reads', too, but that's another show. I've just started "War & Peace" - Leo Tolstoy, a book I've always wanted to read. It's huge and a tad intimidating, but once I start a book & if it's good, I never want it to end. I've read other "Tolstoy's" and they've been amazing to read! There's a reason why some books are called "Classics".

a GREAT book i just finished reading is called "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" by Jonathan Safran Foer. it made me cry a couple times, and no book has ever done that. there are also some really funny parts as well, and his vision is very artsy, with random pictures filling it's pages. he also wrote "Everything Is Illuminated," though i haven't read that yet.

another good book is "A Clockwork Orange" by Anthony Burgess...it's kind of an anti-hero underdog classic (which spawned a movie. great read :)

lastly i would recommend any book by Kurt Vonnegut. any and all of his books that i have come across have been fantastic. hocus pocus, slaughterhouse five, and cat's cradle would be his best in my opinion. all of his characters intersect with the characters of his other books, which makes it really fun to find out when your favorite characters from one book pop up in another one.

There is a great book titled: The Unexpected Universe by Loren Eisley, a professor of anthropology and the book is a delightful read about his observations of the world around us and is written for a lay person to understand, for which I was grateful.
His many insights were eye opening for me.

Dean Koontz 'Velocity'...It's a twisted book as I'm sure most of Dean's books are. This was my first time ever reading his work and I must say I was impressed hes one of those writers that you can just get lost in the pages. His details are vivid and has an element of surprise to it all in all I couldn't put it down.

What book you would like would depend on your taste and inclination. Since the question has come in the Philosophy section, I suggest you try The History of God by Karen Armstrong.

How about the Bible? The manual to life I say. Once you are done with that I recommend something like pride and prejudice by Jane Austen, at least I like it and u should too if you like romances. Also Message In a Bottle, i warn u, its sad but its also a good romantic novel. enjoy!!!!!

Anything by John Grisham. Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series is lots of fun to read too.
