What is the lightening-like indicator on a laptop power indicator on the screen?

I have had previous problems with my laptop power adapter, and i got a new one, but now there is this blue-ish green lightening looking slash through the plug-looking power indicator...is this going to be a problem where i will have to get a new power adapter, i just got a new one=(

That icon just shows that your laptop is plugged in and your battery is charging. Take out your battery and the lightning bolt will go away leaving a picture of just the plug.
