Once they hit about 3 or 4 there are jealousy issues. If you can keep them closer in age, you'll have less jealousy to deal with in the long run. The older one won't know what life was like without her little brother/sister.

I agree with some of the people here that having children with smaller age gaps between them is often better as it sometimes prevents jealousy issues between children. However I know a lot of women who have had second children once their first has got past the age of about 7 and the children have had wonderful relationships with each other. If involved with yourself and the baby from the beginning the child will often be more protective and loving towards the baby.
To be honest though, I think a lot of it depends on the way you and your partner feel. Are you ready for another baby right now or do you want a bit of time to relax and enjoy the first child? I think as long as you always share time together with the two children then they will get along well. I know that I didn't get on well with my brother because he never really played with me or spent time with my mother and myself when I was a baby. So take the time and make the decision for yourself, whatever you choose you'll have probably made the best decision.

I would have to say that anytime now would be a good time to start trying again.
Your daughter is 19 months now, so even if you did get pregnant right away she would be 28 months before the baby is born.
i always thought that the perfect time to add a new baby to our family would be 2 1/2 to 3 years after the first child. The first is getting old enough to understand and they would be able to grow up together, and it wouldn't be so hard on the mommy.
Good Luck with number 2!!!!!!!

I just had my second, and my first is five. I will tell you that for me this is the perfect age. She is in school so I have more day time with the baby and do not have to deal with the jealosy issue as much, and she is the most important big sister and mother's number one helper. My friend had hers approximately a year apart and she is having problems with the older not quite grasping that they baby is not a play thing and is very jealous of mothers time.

Most important .... whenever you are ready!

well if financial issues are no problem I would recomend 3-5 years of age.

This way your child will be past formula/bottles. Past potty training, past a lot of night time sleep problems and a lot of other milestones.
She will also be old enough to help out in the caring for your new little one as well.
If you wait until 5 and she is going to go to public school then also you will have the days free to focus on the infant.

i HAD A 3 YEAR AGE GAP BETWEEN MY GIRLS AND THEY WHERE FANTASTIC TOGETHER, BUT IT DEPENDS ON YOUR CHILD TO BE HONEST.

I am pregnant with my 3rd now and last!!! and theres going be a 7 year age gap between eldest and youngest, which i think will be great my eldest is so excited that she can help, and there will be 4 years between middle and youngest which again i think for my kids will be good.

So really only you can tell it depends on how your daughter is.

i thing that when your other child is 2 or even now is good there isn't going to be a lot of age difference between them and that is a good thing they will experience things together .
