The current politically correct term is "mixed race". It's a term purposefully designed to be non-specific. The idea is that we're not supposed to care about a person's race yet this idea has been promulgated principally by people who are VERY concerned about race. It's kind of odd but, hey, wait a few years and it will be a different term that we're supposed to use.

The old term for a person with one caucasian parent and one parent of African descent was mulatto but this is considered a pejorative term and righfully so. Be careful how and where you use this word if you're out and about because some folks get VERY upset when they hear it.

Barack Obama is one half Kenyan and one half Caucasian. In essence he is black and white. His father was born in Kenya, Africa; his mother was born in Kansas, USA. He was born in Hawaii. And he is a Christian, not a Muslim like some answerers have contended.

I don't care what race he is. He's 100% American, and unlike many of the candidates, he's a pluralist and seems to be working toward hope. That's good enough for me.

Stop with the ""mixed race "' His own web site says he is an African American ...it does not say MIXED ...or Bi racial ...it says African American that is what he has stated his race is ... he does not say as a bi-racial American nor, does he say to be a mixed American .......he says "as an African American " that is the race he himself uses in reference to his race....enough of the politically correct non sense

hey spell Obama then use your spell check ( on the answer box.)....the first correction is " ABM" (( American Black Male )) if that helps you define his race

I have no clue as to what you said. One thing I can say is that Obama has better use of the English language than most people.

He's human.

He's mixed between black from Kenya and white (probably British). His maternal grandfather fought for the US in World war two.

He is half white and half African American. I think in that case he gets to select what race represents him and he has chosen black.
