I am writing my first Novel and I need a last name for this person. Please don't say the last name of her mom or dad.

Nobody even knows what I'm writing about. All you know is that one of the character's name is Rebecca. So no, I will not change the name!

I wouldn't worry about it at this point. Just put XXXX there in the manuscript, and when you're revising you can come up with a name that suits her. Or if there is no name that suits her, do what I do--pick a name from your high school yearbook that has a nice musical ring to it.

Why don't you give us a little information about what kind of a character she is in the book? That would make it easier.

Really, if you need help coming up with something as simple as a last name how can you expect to make a career of writing?

It's not really about what sounds right, it's where the character is from and what their heritage is. I've seen people with ridiculous name pairings but because they were polish and from wisconsin it made sense.
