You should go to your doctor and have him prescribe you some antibiotics.

Peroxide or alcohol will only kill off new cells that are trying to heal your wound. Don't use them after the first day of an injury. An infection of a finger can be a VERY serious situation. You should be soaking it 4 times a day in very warm salt water, for 10 minutes at a time. However, you need to see a doctor about it tomorrow. You may not realize the complications that can occur. If the lymph node under your armpit is swollen and painful, you're possibly to the point where you need IV antibiotics. Don't wait any longer to see a doctor.

Swelling, redness and puss indicates infection. It's best to go see a Doctor so they can give you some anti-biotics by mouth. But if you decide not to go in favor of trying to heal it yourself, first clean it well with hydrogen peroxide or alcohol. Put some over the counter antibiotic cream on it and then a band-aid. Once the band-aid is in place, you can apply an ice pack. If it's too cold, place a dry rag on it then the ice pack. Ten minutes on with the ice, 10 minutes off and keep to that schedule for maybe forty minutes two or three times a day. Re-apply the ointment and apply a clean band-aid daily. If, after three or four days, it doesn't appear to be getting better, please go see your Doctor. Also, take some ibuprofen for the pain. Good luck.

You have an infection, and if left untreated, you could lose the finger. At this point, if it is swollen that badly, you need antibiotics and a doctor's care.

In the meantime, put the peroxide on it. No ice! Ice will actually retard healing. Use a heating pad. That helps to get the fluids moving in your body and will help with the soreness.

Your bf may have been too rough, or you may have a bladder infection. If it continues to hurt when you pee, or if the swelling continues, you should go to the doctor. Drink a lot of H2O and cranberry juice that should help if you do have a bladder infection. The swelling should go away in a day or two, if there is nothing else wrong. If you are in school right now, go to your school nurse if the symptoms keep up. She may be able to give you the address of a clinic you could go to without your dad. Good luck.

When my husband smashed his finger changing a tire, it got infected after about a day and he had to go to the emergency room. The symptoms were the same as yours, he couldn't bend the finger at all without extreme pain, and the wound even began to smell bad. They gave him an antibiotic and, as someone else here advised, had him soak his finger in epsom salts in water, as warm as he could stand, several times a day. It began to get better after just one day of treatment. You should really see a doctor if you can, to get some antibiotics if needed, as infections in fingers and toes can get bad very quickly and even spread to the bone. A bag of Epsom Salt is cheap and available most anywhere (Walgreens, Kmart, etc) in the medicines section and instructions for use are on most packages.

you have an infection. Hydrogen Peroxide would only have worked the first day. the germs are already in there. you may need to have a doctor look at it. Aspirin may relieve the inflamation. if you see red lines on your skin going away from the wound, your infection may be spreading. Don't want GangGrene.

If it hurts that bad and is so swollen you can't move it it sounds like it IS infected. If you don't get treated the infection can get into the bone so do not wait! Don't use home remedies! GO TO THE DOCTOR! NOW!

you should go to a doctor and get them to look at it.

if it is infected you might need antibiotics to fight the infection.

keep it clean and covered - but if it's been 5 days and it's getting worse you gotta go to the doctor asap.
