Its almost like kids don't even have to do their own homework anymore, so many of them abuse this kind of forum and get it done for them, by strangers miles and miles away!

Ok, you're right, not all of them abuse it, but I've seen a bunch that do, and its beyond me why ppl do it for them! I apologize for making it seem like they all abuse it =)

And to those of you who commented about kids needing help....I wasn't talking about those. I'm talking about the ones who say "Here's my math assignment...please answer the questions...HURRY!" I've seen many just type out their math problems and ask everyone to answer them....not once mentioning the word "help"

Because they wanted us to KNOW the stuff when we turned in the assignments, not just forward the questions and hand in the most convincing printout that pops back.

Yikes !!! Think of the mess we'll be in in another dozen years or so !

Ok, - changes: - Accounting Degree & MBA
1. we didn't have computers
2. we were not allowed to use calculators in school
3. we had to do our own homework
4. we used calculators in college
5. we chose to learn Fortran programming
6. we had to learn to use a slide rule
7. we had tons of papers to type on our used typewriters - and bought an electric typewriter when we saved enough money.

8. We are - not smarter than the kids who now use every tool they can.
9. We are not more appreciative - because kids today appreciate their peers - much more than we did. We were taught to work on our own - at least until we finished college. In graduate school, we learned to work in teams.
10. We had to work harder - not smarter, as the kids now do.
11. We accepted what our bosses told us to do, and didn't think we could question authority. I see a very healthy questioning by the kids now!
I wish I had their courage.
12. We needed computers.
13. We needed the internet.
14. We learned about lying and cheating - on the job. The kids now can smell a cheater and liar a mile away.
15. We learned that we will work hard, save our money, and our employers will take care of us. HA!
Come to think of it, we were just gullable.
I don't think the kids will ever have that blind trust again.

THANK GOD - THE KIDS TODAY ARE BETTER - AND USE THE SKILLS SMARTER!

I now have much greater respect for young people because they have the tools and don't care who knows they will use whatever tools they need to get ahead.

GOD bless us one and all, always.

There's a difference between having your homework done by someone else, and getting help on a specific problem.

There's nothing wrong with asking for help. It's also certainly not lazy. Lazy is saying "I don't know. I'm just not going to bother."

Lazy is not asking for help. We don't all have out teacher's phone numbers. The teachers can't help out after school with any problems that we might be facing.

As an 8th grader in two honors classes, somtimes i get stuck on hard math problems or writing things. It's a really nice tool to be able to ask for other (usually older) people's opinions. and i agree that it's definitely wrong for you to assume kids abuse this. And homework usually consist more than one problem, so if they only get help with one...that's not "get[ing] it done for them, by strangers".

yeah. that's really mature.

There was no Internet when I was in school, she said, feeling old.

Truthfully, though, there were things like this. We used have study sessions at the library, and a couple of our teachers were known to drop around from time to time. That's how I view this place - a way to give kids a nudge in the right direction, not to do their homework for them.

It's wrong of you to assume they're abusing the fourm.
I always keep the idea in mind that they're here because they've tried everything and they still need help.
Going to the teacher can also be scary too!
It's the people who do repeat posts that I stop answering, but hey, don't be so quick to judge!

Kids have gotten lazier, or at least that's what my parents always said to me. A lot of people like taking the easy way out nowadays. Haha, I've just betrayed everyone my age.
