Unless you mean your first bike for this year, and have actually been riding for a few years, I would start off with something smaller. Those two bikes are two of the most powerful sport-bikes on the market and I really do not think they are made for beginners. My first bike was an 04 Yamaha R6 and people said I was nuts for getting that for a beginning ride. If you decide to opt for a BIG bike, just respect the machine and know that anytime it CAN hurt you BAD!

Pretty much what everyone has said: forget the 'Busa and the zx14 ... either will kill you slap daid in the first week, or you will ruin it and feel real sad, even if you do not eat pavement.
My first bike was a clapped out, five-year-old, 70,000 mile Honda CB450. It was garbage, but it was a good learning machine, taught me a lot about basic mechanics (I was always tinkering to keep the POS running), and I didn't mind so much when I laid it down the first time or two (as you WILL do).
Riding a motorcycle is about developing new reflexes. Nearly everything about riding a bike is different from what you would "logically" expect. F'rinstance, you PUSH the right handlebar to GO right (called countersteer). And you use the Front brake in corners, unless you want to go off the outside of the curve and eat a tree. And to regain control and tighten a turn radius, you use THROTTLE, not brake. See, it's all backwards from what you would expect.
The looking/seeing/being seen thing is different on a bike, too. And the sensations are way way different (thrilling, and scary, and a little disorienting at times). Do you want to have that much power whizzing you onto the shoulder and over the handlebars?
Trust me on this. I have been on motorcycles for 30 years now, and have developed some perspective: do NOT get a powerhouse race machine for your first bike. Maybe for your second bike, in a year or so.

I definitely agree with the other repliers. You should NOT get anything that big and powerful for your first bike. They are dangerous enough as it is. Now.. if you were experienced, I would say go with the zx14 because they are not as shitty as hayabusa's when it comes to handling.

I too agree with the others about your choice of bikes. What I recommend to a lot of new riders is take a Motorcycle Safety Course endorsed by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. They will teach anyone to ride (as long as you know how to drive a standard shift vehicle) After completing the course you will be able to learn the right way to control and avoid accidents and break any "bad habits " you may have . After you complete the course YOU will be more able to figure out what bike will best be for you. Not to mention waiving the state mandatory riding test. ( one mistake or foot down and you flunked) Get your MC temps and sign up either at a public vocational school or private run class.

They are both cool bikes but first put a few thousand miles on a used bike that is a bit tamer like a light weight cruiser or something of that sort. I know it sucks to not get your dream bike right away but you will appreciate the power even more if you learn how to use it in a controlled manner.

the zx14 is faster but if this is really your first bike you should start on a 600cc or smaller bike.. i know its hard because you wanna be like the pros and go fast but you gotta learn the basics on something managable

if this will be the 1st time you'll be on a motorcycle better get a 400 cc bike and get used to the power of that 1st
Don't try to be those "type" of people who just wants to look cool and in the end make a fool of them selves when they wreck their bikes in public coz of lack of experiences

I agree, If you mean "First" bike.. A Ninja 500 would be plenty for a while. The 500 is a great first bike if you are careful, it is fast..

And your first car was a Ferrari?
Slow down kid, learn to drive before you jump in an Indy car!
Neither one is a good choice for a beginner.
