Famous authors always say, "Write what you know." So write about something personal then add..."what if..." to it. For example, you went on a really fun rafting tour... but what if aliens visited? See?

The story is you and you are the story. For a realistic fiction personal narrative, take something that happened to you in real life, magnify the conflict involved, and try to write it in a captivating and stylistic manner.

You can't go wrong if you work hard and trust yourself.

Realistic Fiction. Hmmm...and personal. OK, make up a story about a trip you took with your family, and how you got stopped by the cops who were looking for a suspect who just happened to look like you and they took you downtown for questioning but then Thank God the real suspect was brought in in handcuffs and they let you go. Hows that? Or how you were fishing once and caught an 11 ft. shark and it pulled you out of the boat but you got rescued by a dolphin. ???

Try a competition of some kind: sports, debate, cheerleading, bobbing for apples, etc. They always have an element of excitement that engages the reader, and nearly everyone's had some personal experience with a competitive situation and can identify with it.

Good luck!

Pick a situation, that looking back on, if you could change one thing about it, what would it be?

Start with that scene, and expand the storyline as to how you see it unfolding if you had acted differently.

(i.e.: Socked the school bully, asked out the head cheerleader, went along with a bad idea...)

it has to be realistic so... it has to have drama! Drama will make your work better, for instance some person who cant be with the person they love, or some person trapped in a life they hate as their world suddenly closes in on them one day, or some person who starts to realize that he is actually going crazy and losing control of his life. Those kinds of ideas are killer. then you have to come up with some names like lord feather top and his freind harold macmillian or somethiing
