We have proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that our team goes as our power play goes. It's a good thing that we're hitting our slump right now. Detroit is doing it's typical run-up in the standings, and I truly believe they will crash and burn as usual because they are peaking too early. And, we will NOT see a repeat of last year with the #1-4 teams losing in the first round. The only team that I wouldn't want to see in the finals from the East is NJ, because watching them is like having a root canal without the anaesthetic. I would LOVE to see a Sharks-Penguins final, WOW.

Ron Wilson needs to change up a few things on the power play to keep it fresh. Some of the teams have figured out how to shut it down. Unfortunately for the Sharks, I believe the road to the Cup this year (in the West) goes through Turco and Dallas, and we're not that strong against them.

So, "can" we do it? Absolutely. "Will" we do it? If we can start peaking in late March/early April and get through the first 2 rounds, then absolutely. Otherwise, it's golf course time (again).

The Sharks have all the ingredients for a strong Stanley Cup run but one...a strong two-way defenseman with a heavy shot. Add a guy like Sheldon Souray or Rob Blake in the mix and you might have something.

Top Three Reasons The Sharks will win the WC:
- Cheechoo is the bomb
- Ron Wilson
- The Ducks will choke come crunch time. Knuckle-puck what?

I believe the Sharks are gonna win the Stanley Cup this year! We have a solid team with one of the best powerplays and one of the best 1-2 punch players in Marleau and Thornton. We have 2 starting goaltenders in Nabby and Vesa. We have depth, youth and size. We're in a small losing streak right now, but we'll put it all together and make a run for the division and conference lead real soon. And next year....watch out for Devon Setoguchi!

i dont know about winning it all. i thought we could have last year but this year i have doubts. out goalies are pretty good, but theyre not tops in the nhl. there are times when sharks get on scoring droughts and thornton has to do everything. cheechoo hasnt been the same guy, hes not moving around like he was last year. our defense does need to get better, but theyre all pretty young with vlasic and carle. and the west is really tough with detroit and anaheim and nashville has forsberg now. its going to be very very tough. the sharks would have a hard time against really physical teams. i dont even know if the sharks can beat dallas in a series.

I hope the Sharks win it all, but we will see. Look for a goalie to be traded for a top defensmen and picks. No rookie of the years on this team. But still-plenty to look forward to.

If you wouldn't have said "Sharks fans only", I probably wouldn't have even opened this. But since you did, I feel obligated to let you know the the Sharks suck, and dont have a chance at Lord Stanley's Cup.

in order for the sharks to have a hope for the cup they need to get their defense up to par. rooks vlasic and carle dont have enough experience. kyle mclaren, the most vet defenseman has played more games than matt carle, m-e vlasic, douglas murray, rob davison, and josh gorges put together. foote from columbus or souray from montreal would make up for it. simply sharks need experience on forward and d, theyre too young.
coming from a shark fan (not like the others who already responded earlier) i could probably go on about what they need...but the sharks would need to trade for the PRESENT not this future b.s. that doug wilson sometimes gives.

Those great goalies have won how many play-off games?? Let the only real good one (Kipprusoff) get away. Also the ROY is going straight to Pittsburgh.

"We need better defence. We need better everything. Man we are lazy"---those are your words but yet you think the Sharks are going to win the Cup? Not if they need better defence better everything and are lazy.
