I feel so sorry for them. Hate is such a terrible thing to feel. I don't understand how people can use such terrible names for people who they don't even know (just look down at some of the previous questions). It is those people who have the negative effect on society. They really need to reflect on that.

I agree.. what we need is peace, love and understanding. Some people are very ignorant and intolerant and full of hate..you're right about the negative effect on society. The whole world could be a great place to live if not for the closed-minded people. I think it comes from fear, they feel threatened somehow.

I agree with EM Forster's essay on tolerance:
."....It is wanted in the street, in the office, at the factory, and it is wanted above all between classes. races, and nations. It's dull. And yet it entails imagination. For you have all the time to be putting yourself in someone else's place. Which is a desirable spiritual exercise....
Tolerance is not the same as weakness. Putting up with people does not mean giving in to them. This complicates the problem. But the rebuilding of civilization is bound to be complicated. I only feel certain that unless the Lord builds the house, they will labour in vain who build it. Perhaps, when the house is completed, love will enter it, and the greatest force in our private lives will also rule in public life."

yes i agree 100% Did you know that America the Beautiful was written by a Lesbian? Most people are Bigots because that's how they were raised, and for that i feel very sorry for them, they never had a chance. I was raised in a very accepting way, one of my moms best friends are gay! Another thing i can't stand is the guys that bash on gays but i grantee that if they saw 2 girls making out they'd stop and say it was hot, not disgusting, and i bet they watch porn with that in it. Most people are also very hypocritical as well.

I believe it is absolutely horrible. I never entered this section until two days ago. I am straight and thought I had no reason to be here. Then a nice lady visited R&S and told me that hateful fundamentalists were here attacking folks. I was seriously offended. I am shocked at how they turn the Gospel message on its head and use it to promote hatred. I object. I will tell you that these hatemongers are actually anti-christians as they are practicing the exact opposite of Christ's teachings but doing it in His name. Please do not be fooled. They hate me as much as anyone for saying that. I follow Christ. He taught me to Love all people. Peace be with you all.

They're very narrow minded, and think there's nothing left to learn, or different ways to look at things. Just look at the TV, and see how the Jerry Springer show promotes hatred, and all the wrestling shows. I believe we're reverting back to the Roman days, and people aren't going to be happy until they see people being killed. I think the Jerry Springer show, and any others like it, should be out lawed. People need to start calling their stations, and tell them to pull them off the air.

Yes, but what can we do about it? Absolutely nothing. However, my suggestion is to not argue back. Doing so only makes you look guilty... Be the better person.

Trust me, the day some people actually care is not going to be a day at all... Maybe a joke, but not a day... Sadly, many are grown up with negative influences toward GLBT-types, and it's like trying to be serious when you call your mother "Daddy" simply because you think she is. Those young habits are awkward to change...

I agree with you. Thats ashame that society has to be this way. We all should have tolerance, love, compassion. I mean if you do not agree with other peoples lifestyle, then at least show them respect.
