James Earl Ray (March 10, 1928 – April 23, 1998) was convicted of the assassination of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., which occurred on April 4, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. Ray also has the distinction of having been twice placed on the FBI Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.

Mlk was killed during a time when the public was accepting lone gunman stories. The authorities never could tie the gun through ballistics to the crime. James Earl Ray did the time but most likely did not do the crime, but who ever pushed for the confession knows who told him to do so.

James Earl Ray in Memphis Tenn. on April 4,1968. Dr. King's speech in front of the Lincoln Memorial was a very moving speech ,even today it still on of the finest ,most moving speech I have heard in all my 51 yrs.I, personally rate Dr. King right up there beside Moses. He was murdered on my Mother's birthday
