Arteries pulsate with the heart b/c they carry blood away from the heart. Venous blood gushes b/c it is carrying blood to the heart. Arterial bleeds look worse b/c they project blood all over the place and venous bleeds just gush blood like water from a water hose.

arterial bleeding is a much brighter shade of red with a quick spurting action to it (spraying blood) while venous is a very dark red and is more like oozing

arterial bleeding is in contrast to venous blood, a gusher, and the guy is dead, sorry. Venous blood isn't as red, or full of oxygen.

arterial bleeding is generally more severe.
it also seems to bleed in 'pulses'. bleeding moreheavily, then hardly then more heavily, at about half a second interval.
