The question is one of security. If a Letter Carrier can leave a parcel at a relatively secure location, or if the sender has opted to use the "Carrier leave if no response" label then the item can be left. You can also make prior arrangements by talking to your Letter Carrier or calling the PO. If delivery is not possible you will receive a peach colored form 3849 in your mailbox. On the back of the form you can indicate delivery requests. You can even request that items be left with neighbors, relatives or they can even be forwarded to your place of business. BTW the sticky labels are used by the other guys, not the Postal Service.

Lately, they've been left on the front step. However, in the past, in the bushes, on the back deck, inside the back fence, at the neighbors and last, but not least, at the wrong address. The house numbers on the same, but on different streets just around the corner. They do good, though. Always ask if I need help getting the heavier packages inside.

Well I am dissappointed to say that when I lived in Cali, there was NO way in H--LL they would leave ANYTHING on your doorstep....... But I live in Tucson, AZ now and for some reason - to me, it seems like everyone here is living in the dark ages with their work ethic.

Not only have I found packages off the side of my doorstep - often sititng in the sun with NO notice at all - by USPS - but ALSO FedEx, UPS and DHL.

I find it discourageing............

It's like Cali over here but IN THE 80's when people could trust a package to be left on their doorstep...... Only - they Can't be TRUSTED and USPS is so pathetic and LAZY they don't care........

Sometimes they will leave your package with a neighbor....if they are willing to sign for it otherwise they will leave a card for you to go to the local office and pick it up or arrange a time to deliver it when you'll be home....hope that helps.....

They will just leave a sticky note on your door and ask you to pick it up at the local post office.

They leave a post it on your door and take it back to the post office. They will not leave packages at your door. UPS will though
