It is an interesting look at dragons, their interaction with man, and the hypocrisy of man...

I've read (I think) all that's out so far. It is a good read, and one that I thoroughly enjoyed. I let someone borrow it and he liked it as well-- enough to be pissed off when he finished the third book and realized there wasn't any more to read.

I've read the whole series (so far) and think they're all wonderful. The books are well-paced and well-researched, and I really enjoy the characters, enough to sniffle when some of them die.

Peter Jackson has optioned the books and I'm hoping he'll actually make a movie of one or more of them.
