I had a c-section on the 12th.. My Ob said we could resume sex- as soon as i stopped 'bleeding' and that if it was before my 6 week check-up to just make sure we used protection. I'm already waaaaay feeling the urge to have sex again-- my bleeding hasn't completely stopped- but today i didn't have any discharge at all- and then just a small amount tonight. (ive been able to only wear pantyliners the past 2 days because my discharge has decreased soo much). So is it safe to resume sex again as long as i'm comfortable? And also- why do they say to wait until you've stopped bleeding? just curious. Thanks for any advice.

We waited about 3 weeks after I gave birth (my bleeding stopped at 2 weeks, but I wasn't quite ready) and my doctor was totally cool with it. At my 6 week checkup, he asked if we had tried it yet and when I said yes, he asked how it went. I told him it went fine and didn't even hurt. He said that was great and then he moved on to the next subject.
My point is, as long as you feel comfortable, go ahead and try - no one will be mad at you for attempting it - but if ANYTHING hurts at all, stop.

well, i have always heard don't have sex until you go back for your 6 weeks checkup and that is what i have always done , but if you are comfortable with it then i would say it is ok , but, be sure you use protection it is so easy to get pregnant again after you have a baby , well on the bleeding part your body is still getting rid of all the stuff that was inside you remember you didn't have a period for 9 mths and your body is flushing itself out

i also had a c section... i wanted sex right away also.but i was SO sore!!!! i needed trouble getting of off the couch and trying to lay down was hard enough without even thinking about the motions of sex!.. remember, just because you didn't delivery vaginally you insides still went thru alot of stages.. just be careful when you do decide to have sex.. when we finally did i thought i was ready, but it hurt. and after wards i bled more even though i hadn't bleed for a couple days... and they want make sure that you are done bleeding because any blood pushed back up could cause a bacteria infection.

Believe me. wait wait wait, your body has just been through a trauma, and the last thing you want to do is go at it too soon and risk a complication that could make you wait longer, sexual gratifaction can be achieved in ways other than intercourse, avail your self of those options until your MD gives the green light.

They say that so you don't get an infection. Be careful when you do resume because my friend got pregnant 3 weeks after she had her first child and yes they did it in the hospital after she had her baby too!!! I know crazy!!! Painful too!!!

Not sure why! But we resumed sex fairly soon after my c section and it was fine. Use protection unless you want another baby soon.

Your body needs to reset itself. I think it has to do with hormones.

If I were you, I'd wait until I'm completely finished bleeding.

But it's nice to know that once the kid is out you do get your sex drive back. Now I have something to look forward to. :-)

Ewwww! Aren't you still sore? I would advise against this because you need to use this time to heal! I had a c-section too and was still sore up until about 4 weeks after. Be careful. Can't it wait?????

But if you just gotta.... consult with your doctor! Use protection!
