Persuasive essay introduction?

i have to right the introduction for a persuasive essay about why schools should be made into single-sex schools,only boys and only girls. but i can't think of how to start it... can anyone give me some ideas to start it?

You need to end the paragraph with your topic sentence, no matter WHAT. So, you could begin by talking about the benfits of single-sex schools, how they've improved learning, etc. Just don't be too detailed in your intro, save that for your next paragraphs. The end of the first paragraph should state exactly what you're going to talk about, but never say "In this essay, I will..." In fact, you're not supposed to use any personal pronouns at ALL. (I, me, your, etc.)

You should have four arguments. Make sure you know which is the best, the second best, etc. In your essay, put the second best argument first, followed the the fourth best, the third best, and finally, the BEST. This order is the way it is on purpose, to keep the reader's attention. Then finish it off with a good conclusive sentence. (DO NOT use "I conclude" in your conclusion. It's tacky.)

The three most important things:
1. Intro paragraph must end with topic sentence
2. No "I, me, your," etc.
3. No phrases that give away what yo'ure talking about ("In this essay, I will"..."I conclude that..." etc.)

Here's an idea:

Mixed-sexes at school cause a number of problems: jealousy, competition for attention, premature sexual activities, daydreaming, distractions, beauty competitions, self-image hangups, and (fill in the blanks), to name but a few. Even though same-sex schools have a few similar or opposite downfalls, the education level achieved by a same-sex facility overcompensates these faults. I will prove that the concentration and, ergo, scholarly outcomes achieved at a same-sex school are much higher than a normal mixed school. With facts taken from the National Bereau of Statistics (or whatever it is called there) I will prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that having an All-Boys or an All-Girls secondary college will greatly increase the intelligence of our population.


Then go on to talk about how many homosexuals are formed at these types of schools compared to the supressed ones from mixed schooling....LOL

1. Can you bielive people are trying to seperate boys and girls into single-sexed classes?

2. People like me are very angry about the government trying to make single-gendered classes!

3. I say no to all boy and all girl classrooms because this is a free country and we need RIGHTS!

use something that uses attention grabbing stuff i used #1 and got a+
