The book is a modern fantasy set in central America. The main character is a heroine about nineteen [not decided on the age yet] whose mother and stepfather are killed in what appears to be a normal car crash. She begins to discover and learn about a secret world to which she belongs, and how it is connected to her parents' death. It has to do with magic, animals, shapeshifting, etc. My question is about the girls' name, I suppose. I wanted to name her Danielle Angel Carver, and have everyone in the book call her Danni. However, I wasn't sure if that was appealing or not to the general public. Thoughts or suggestions?

Thank you. =]

Okay, well I have the entire story in my head. I have only about 1/4 of the book done, but I was planning on a series.

I'm not worried about the rest of the stuff just yet; I have a person to edit. I was just trying to get approval for the name, is all.

What in the world are you worried about her name for?? You should be asking questions related to how to tell your story.

I suggest you take a step back and focus on storytelling rather on these type of details. I see it all the time. People want to write a book and they focus on the following three things which is really a sign that they're procrastinating and not actually writing. It also is a good sign that they have no clue how to write a story.

1) Names of characters
2) Title of story
3) How to get published

I'd love to know more about your story and hope you can talk about how you're progressing.

The name Danielle Angel Carver is a perfectly good name, but for such a fanciful style book I would have expected a more "exotic" name. Try the baby name websites around and search by meanings, it may end up meaning more to you this way also :)

Good luck with the book, it sounds like a great story.

Are you asking if we approve of the name? Wow. That's not easy to answer if we haven't read the book. Names are very important in fiction. The best I can say is, if you feel very strongly about the name, and feel it encompasses the nature of the character, then it's probably a good choice and you should stick with it.

I like it.

"angel carver" sounds like someone who carves up angels, or carves angels out of wood or some other substance. But it is always intriguing when someone's name makes a phrase like that.

I think the name Dani looks better with one n.

I would generlly say stick with your first instict.
unless you would like the name to have a specific meanning which implies something about the character of the girl or the character of the story.

Good name. She could also be called 'Angel' by some people - those who know her through a specific age for instance.

Sounds like a good name. Very conservative.

It would work in any book I'd write.

But I chose my own. :0)
