in my gym class, we had to make a marble get from one end of the gym to the other with only straws, tape and rulers. if it drops, u must start over. the fastest team wins.
another thing is we had to break into teams and duck tape someone to the wall. the team that kept their person up the longest won. (that was really fun)
these, among other we do, are a great way to make the kids work together, and think and listen to each other.

Stuck on a desert island with inflatable raft, compass, radio, and other items (can't remember them all off hand) anyway the point is to get the team to decide what to keep what to discard and how to get rescued. We did this in my sociology class.
