It's incredibly annoying when they say something like, "well anywho, I better be on my way".

Same reason many people say "absolutely" over and over instead of "yes." They heard someone say it once, thought it was cute, and now they are driving it into the dirt.

It's really funny how "anyhoo" has become a popular, hip (possibly annoying?) way of saying "anyway". My grandmother used to say it all the time when I was little, and I'm over 50 now! And here I thought it was old-fashioned.

Yes, it's spelled "anyhoo." Hardly anyone ever actually writes it, so it's usually misspelled "anywho."

I say it (or used to say it) precisely to be funny - the other option is "Anyhow" or "Anyway" or "Moving right along," which, to me, sound so cliche and boring.

Of course, now, "Anywho" is being said by everyone and is used in movies and commercials.

Take the letters and mix them up, anywho, anyhow, anywho, anyhow. Same letters, and it's fun. If you don't like it and it's someone that you talk with alot, tell them.

we say anywho because we are droping the sentence or subject that you were talking about. So saying anywho is a way of leaving a sentence or subject.

I feel it is annoying too. Once they way it I'm like time to go.

Gees it makes no sense. Its like saying "rocket poop" At least it is not annoying. It makes no sense but neither does what they say.

It's either they developed a habit of saying it, they heard it somewhere and thought it sounded cool, or they want to sound more sophisticated than they really are.

I think they learned it from their grandpa's and somehow thought it was cool. Its confusing why anyone starts saying anything.
