How did you know that you were in labor? Besides the obvious, like contractions, what else did you experience? Did you have the nesting urge? Nausea? What else?

About a week before, I had a fever and just felt miserable. Then I had an urge to put everything together (bassinet, crib, high chair, swing, and stroller). I wasn't due for another 4-weeks, but ended up having my son at 36-1/2 weeks! Also, I never got nausea, but my friend did. In fact, she was so nauseas the day she gave birth, she broke her own water by dry heaving (was not done on purpose, let me tell ya). Also, for me, I felt like my son was a bowling ball in between my legs, I had to pee every 5-minutes (no exaggeration there) due to the fact he was on my bladder, my legs started swelling a lot more easily, and then there was the mucus plug. Mine looked like a mini-blood clot whereas, with this pregnancy, it looked like a little ball of snot (gross, yet true). I never felt my contractions until about 5-hours after I lost my plug and then had my son the very next day. Not usual for most, but that's what happened with him. With this one, not so much. Lost my plug Saturday, still nothing. Every pregnancy is different. Anyway, congrats and good luck!

1) You may experience some restlessness, an urge to get things done and ready for the baby, not being able to get comfortable or stay still. That is what some call the "nesting syndrome".2) I experienced some strange twinges of slight pain that felt like it was right on my cervix-not enough pain to shout about, but enough to take notice.3) Also, you might have some mucous like discharge that is slightly red or pink. 4) You may loose interest in eating right before you go into labor, but if you do think your in labor and are extremely hungry, just eat very small amounts of very light foods. 5) Back pain that comes and goes. 6)Feeling of leaking water, if it is a gush of water you will have no doubt. You may not experience any of these or all of them. Every pregnancy is different.
