It is covered with fur, but the fur looks damp and the skin underneath is reddish with a whitish dot in the middle of the bump. I've tried to clean it out with a q-tip and water, but was hesitant to put Neosporin on it. It doesn't seem to bother him--he's eating and behaving normally. Suggestions?

That is it's scent gland...leave it alone for a while...if it starts getting bigger, smelling really bad or looking REALLY infected then take him to the vet!!!
OH!!! No neosporin!!! if you feel the need to you can clean it with really salty water.......
