Me and my gf thought it would be a terrific middle name but some people beg to differ?

Uh, it's not my favourite. Here's why:

Kids can be cruel. When she's quite young, probably no one will get the mythology reference and tease her about it. Besides, it's her middle name, and not a lot of people will know what it is.

When she gets a little older, however, all it will take is one big-mouth to find out, and if the spirit moves them, the kids around her will rib her about it. A joke about being the one who released evil onto the world might be easy for a fifteen-year old girl to ignore, but a nasty joke about wanting to "open up her box" might be a little harder to shake off. (Please forgive my crudeness, but I'm sure you get the point.)

Anyway, that being said, you can make fun of almost any name out there. My suggestion is that, if you can't live without it, then use it, but do your best to find something else that you like, instead. Your child will thank you for it when she's thirty.

Pandora is pretty enough for a first name, too. I know a few people named Pandora. It's not an unpopular name, but it's probably not in the top 10 names of 2007. Go ahead if you like it!

if it goes well with the rest of the name I don't see why not, I know people who have named their kids after their favorite klingons - and that was the first name so your a far cry from being outragous. Sense it's the middle name the child can keep it a secret if she doesn't like it as she grows up, but I think it's nice enough.

First off a name doesn't usually have much to do with who a person will end up to be.

And really I think the middle name has much less effect. A middle name is not something anyone even has to know about if she doesn't want them to so I'd say if yo both like it then go for it.

Whenever I hear the name Pandora I think Pandora's Box. Box being a slang word for vagina = not good.

No! All that matters is if yall like the name. Don't listen to anyone else. If yall like then go with it. It's different.
