If an 8th grade 14 year old girl is pregnant and her parents kick her out of the house, but she can't afford a lawyer. Aren't the parents required to support the child?? Also if she can't afford a lawyer does the state have to give her one even if she is convicting not being convicted???? Being convicted of child abuse, if not what eles can the girl do?????

They cannot kick her out.
Report it to the school, local police, or hospital. They can all notify the correct authorities.

I do not understand the lawyer part... why does the 14 yr old need a lawyer? If she is being tried criminally (herself) the state will provide her with one. If she is concerned about one to protect her interests, most states do pay for that.

This girl has a long road ahead of her. It seems as though her parents will not help her with her pregnancy or child... maybe whoever you are you could connect her to the red cross, catholic charities, or another organization nonprofit organization. Also, she can access medicaid, WIC, foodstamps, and other social service programs. Every state has different "tweeks" on the same types of programs. These two links were the best ones I found that were not state specific. However, a search of " social services state name" should drop you right on the correct state's web address and information.

Wow. i had more questions after i read this than answers. Where is the girl staying? Does she have medical care? Has she been to counseling to discuss options with regard to her pregnancy? What would she be being convicted of? Why does she need the lawyer? Does the girl have any relatives close by that she can live with? It does not sound to me like any child abuse has taken place. i wonder about the relationship the girl has with her parents. i am guessing that it is not good. i wonder if there is anyone that she can trust in her life because right now, she is going to need someone. Does she attend church? If not, is there a local church that can come together with her and help her out? i don't know what the situation would be as far as the parents supporting the baby. They should certainly be held accountable for the support of the 14 year old. They should be responsible enough to make suitable arrangements for the poor girl if they cannot have her living with them. It really blows my mind that they would kick the poor thing out in her condition. What she really needs is love, support, understanding, and someone to listen to her and tell her that she has options and what they are. How do you know this girl? Are you a teacher or counselor or friend of the family? Could you help put her in touch with people to help? Maybe if you could e-mail me with more info, i could try to help more. Sorry i can't offer much. i feel for the poor girl. i was a single mommy at 23 and it was not easy then. i KNOW it cannot be easy for an orphaned 14 year old. i will pray for her. Best wishes!

Some parents uhh ? Why would the girl even be pregnant to begin with ? First of all she is only 14 second of all if her parents kicked her out of the house and she took the case to court and just represented herself to the judge it wouldnt cost anything she dont need a lawyer for this and her parents can get into some big trouble.

A parent is responsible for a child under the age of 18. The parents can be charged with child abuse/neglect for kicking them out with no means of support. You need to contact child protective services in your state of residence.

first thing you need to do since you are pregnant is go down and try to get on welfare immediately, tell them that you have no where to go and you need help, depends on which state you live in every state has different laws, I do know there is free lawyers out there that will listen to you and if they think they can win your case they will take it free of charge its something like www.lawyers association.com you need to look into it a little further I don't think that that one is correct, but it may be close, then you can ask them the 2 different questions that you need answered.

she should talk to her counselor at school they will know who to call, her parents are responsible for her. I don't know that they are responsible for her baby. She could also just call the police and they will get her help. She could see if her grandparents or some other relative like an aunt or uncle will take her in. Or maybe the family of the guy that got her pregnant will help her.
