You know you'll be a fake? That the whole point of being a scene kid. I'd seriously much rather you stay a prep than pretend to listen to indie while buying stuff like My Chemical Romance. Anywho, this is Yahoo answers so I suppose you want an answer...
1. go to Hot Topic. That's scene kid central.
2. get an emo-wannabe haircut
3. research bands and pretend to be really into their lyrics eventhough you don't know what they mean.
4. claim you hate posers (although you'd be one by following these steps)
5. pretend you love music. and throw away that fergie and beyonce crap.
6. use a lot of different eyeliners.
7. paint your nails black
8. mix up your style with indie-prep-emo hybrid outfits, acting like you just threw it on eventhough you stood infront of your closet for an hour. if anyone asks how you would describe your wardrobe stick with the scene kid answer: eclectic
9. throw away your uggs and crocs then replace them with checkered vans slip-ons.
10. go to all the rock concerts within a fifty mile radius.
11. wear skinny jeans with hot topic flats
12. use strange speech and address your friends with curse words or degrading phrases humorously. they'll probably laugh then beat you up, but they can't mess with you because you're so "scene", right?
13. be a camera whre, saying you just love photography. then plaster them on your myspace.
14. put bows or headbands in your hair.
15. wear a lot of stripes. and polka dots.
16. seriously don't follow these steps. I -along with 98% of the population- HATE scene kids. it's just trying too hard and it really shows.

Well, I am actually going to try to help you out.
Wear cute little bows, hair clips, and headbands.
Wear black or neon colored eyeliner and neon colored eyeshadow.
Get skinny or ripped jeans.
Wear kiddy shirts like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hello Kitty, etc.
Wear band shirts.
Wear Converse Chucks, Vans slip-ons, or flats.
Get some pearls in a lot of different colors to wear.
Wear black or bright colored leggings and tights.
Stripey socks! Longer the better.
Perhaps even get a more scene-ish hair cut.
Do peace and rock on signs a lot.
Expand your knowledge of rock music.
Go shopping at Hot Topic and/or Delias.
Studded belts.

i'm 15 and i know sometimes you want to try out different "labels" but its realy better to just be yourself... if you try to force yourself to be scene people will notice and just think you are a poser... i know you say you don't care, but it will really work out better for you if you jus stay true to yourself.... and if you think about it "preps" and "scene kids" have some things in common ex.- liking hello kitty, wearing mini's with leggings, and wearing bows in your hair

Lol! Yer silly. :P
Well...listen to a lot of music,
and moreso, KNOW your music. Wear TIGHT straight legged jeans, lots of striped tees. As well as printed tees with little kid stuff on them...i.e. Hello Kitty, Dora, Sesame Street.
Be straight edge. DONT SUPPORT drugs, alcohol, or promiscuous sex. This is called straight edge or sXe. Also, get a choppy, razor haircut, and wear hair bows. Bows in your hair, that little girls would normally wear.
Also, LOTS of eyeliner. BLACK eyeliner, with super bright eyeshadow.
Good luck!
The "scene kid" style is a fun one.
=)
