Why be scared of East India Company's experience? Grow up.
Your concern about Mama & Papa shops is valid in our existing set-up and needs. Yet an optimum blend and graduation to new feasible options is good for consumer as a whole. Wal Mart and Indian counterpart Bharti are contemplating exchange of business, business ideas, business practices and so on. The needs of Wal Mart for themselves are far more than their necessity in India. This business avenue can prove good on many counts with some major pitfalls as well. Taking due precautions, one can make deals. Take a look back, 12-15 years ago (since the opening of our economy) and now, on an average a consumer has gained in terms of variety, quality, price and overall quality in life. So many new things have entered in our lives so easily to serve our necessities and comforts - much faster due these business alliances and global deals. Remember, our own IT, steel, pharma and services have penetrated many overseas markets for good and we have excelled. People like you can always stay alert and spread the due caution, yet keep our widows open for fresh air (ideas) and feasibility. Have faith in yourself (India) for optimum blending, learn from past mistakes and grow always.

Wal-Mart is pure evil. They have people to make stuff for them for only a penny a day, and there trying to bring all the other stores down, that means less employment opprotunity for other people who needs to work. I want to bomb every Wal-Mart that those wicked people ever made.

So many of our technology jobs are going to you (India). So WalMart is following the money trail. You guys have our dollars, and WalMart is trying to bring some of them back home. Not a bad idea.
