I think that the guy shouldn't have to pay for everything all the time (although i'd be nice!). I think they should take turns paying for eachother.

being happily married for almost twenty years, my husband and i are just as romantic today as we were twenty years ago, it has been pretty much both sided, we are romantic to each other, my husband and i believe in being romantic with our hearts and not our wallets, so we are always coming up with something new (mind out of gutter, please) things like picnics , love notes, calls during the day, a warm bubble bath waiting when you had a hard day, etc etc etc....

I think it totally depends on the situation. But I prefer to be in an "equal relationship".
