Check out http://www.ClassTopic.com They have some great topics that I've used in the past. Each topic has three good sources to get you started on the research, too.

Don't do your oral on immigration whatever you do-relevant but mind numbingly boring!

Something thats highly discussed at the moment (so you can get a lot of info) is the 9/11 Conspiracy Theory.

Its quite controversial and im sure everyone would be interested in what you have to say.

Make sure you do arguments for and against and evaluate it to your best ability.

Search Loose Change in youtube.

Good Luck!

You haven't mentioned in which class you are for the oral. However, here are a few topics for you to consider.

Are our school lunch menus really tasty and nutritious? What can we do to improve the taste without reducing the nutritive content?

Is the ban on selling soda in schools in certain states really going to help in reducing the consumption of cola among students?

What can students do to balance their play time with time for study, in such a way that they don't give undue time to either?

Would you consider it necessary to go through training classes before you take up babysitting of children?

How about picking a country you are fascinated by, do some research, and give your speech on the lifestyle and culture of that country. Throw in fun facts, and trivia making it more interesting.

Or

Do a speech on the animal kingdom. Pick a specific rare breed of animal, and tell all about it. People usually are fascinated by things that are not common to them. That might keep their interest.

Good luck!

You can do a topic on Breed Specific Legislation and how it should NOT be passed because it's not the dog's fault the OWNER trains them to be as they are. Not to mention the fact that the poor dogs are chained outside, no food, water, or shelter, and are fought and abused. I'd be willing to help you with that.

Do a report on how mind-numbingly boring and irrelevant classes are causing students to drop out of school, or worse yet, to stay while not learn anything of value.

Make sure it has relevant factuals, so that you'll still get a good mark.

On similar oral exam, many years ago, I used this man as a candidate for the Presidency. With all the current talk about Hillary and Barak it seems appropriate to enter General Arnold once again. But the cynicism of the electorate is never easy to critique, so be careful that your classmates understand that it's only parody and that you aren't really serious about liking a traitor. His campaign slogan was, "Honest Arnold for President." J/S

Arnold was ambitious and aggressive, quickly expanding his business. In 1763, he repurchased the family homestead that his father had sold when deeply in debt. One year later, he re-sold it for a substantial profit. In 1764, he formed a partnership with Adam Babcock, another young New Haven merchant. Using the profits from the sale of his homestead, they bought three trading ships and established a lucrative West Indies trade. During this time, he brought his sister Hannah to New Haven and established her in his apothecary to manage the business in his absence. He traveled extensively in the course of his business, throughout New England and from Quebec to the West Indies, often in command of one of his own ships.

The Stamp Act of 1765 severely curtailed mercantile trade in the colonies. Arnold initially took no part in any public demonstrations but, like many merchants, conducted trade as if the Stamp Act did not exist—in effect becoming a smuggler in defiance of the act.

On the night of January 31, 1767, Arnold took part in a demonstration denouncing the acts of the British Parliament and their oppressive colonial policy. The effigies of local crown officials were burned. He and members of his crew roughed up a man suspected of being a smuggling informant. Arnold was arrested and fined 50 shillings for disturbing the peace.

The oppressive taxes levied by parliament forced many New England merchants out of business. Arnold himself came near to personal ruin, falling £15,000 in debt.

Arnold fought a duel in Honduras with a British sea captain, who called Arnold a "Dammed Yankee, destitute of good manners or those of a gentleman". Arnold was shocked by the rudeness and challenged him to a duel. The captain was wounded and forced to apologize.

Arnold was in the West Indies when the Boston Massacre occurred on March 5, 1770, but later he wrote "very much shocked" and wondered "good God; are the Americans all asleep and tamely giving up their liberties, or are they all turned philosophers, that they don't take immediate vengeance on such miscreants".

On February 22, 1767, he married Margaret, daughter of Samuel Mansfield. They had three sons: Benedict, Richard and Henry. She died on June 19, 1775.
