I have been experiencing pain in my lower abdomen, and VERY heavy bleeding (mensus?) I usually only bleed for 3 days (since I was 15) I am only 35 and have had tubal done, no gall bladder or appendix, last month I bleed for 16 days, was off 1 week and now I am on day 8 of bleeding again. I will bleed "normal" for a bit then gush. There are blood clots involved. I have been to the hospital and tested neg. for cancer, endemetiosis, popped cysts, etopic pregnancy, etc. Went to OB-GYN and nothing. Just "we'll keep an eye on it" (Doctor language for I dont know??) Does any of the thousands of women out there have any idea on what could be going on? I have tried the doctors and tried searching the net with no luck. Please only serious answers.

I would get a second opinion if I were you. You should let your doctor know that you are concerned and scared....it is their job to be sure that all of your questions and concerns are looked at. If you are going through more than one pad an hour, you need to head back to the ER. Have they sent you to an endocrinologist yet? I'd discuss this with your doctor. The link below is some information you can read.

Good luck!

I had this problem myself, I am 25 and have always had iregular periods since I started them. Sometimes I will go months without them (no complaints here LOL) and then sometimes I cant stop bleeding. What my dr. did was put me on high doses of birthcontrol, I think she started me off at 3 a day and then worked down to get the bleeding to stop in one week and then put me on the nuva ring to keep them normal. This worked very well but I couldnt stand the ring so I stoped using it after a month and now I have started the birthcontrol to keep me regular ( I take one a day and not the 3 to stop the bleeding) You may want to mention this to your health care provider and tell them you want to try it. I will warn ya though, since you will be on high doses you may become very moody until you are finished lol

Given your age, you may be entering into perimenopause which causes different changes. You may have some tiny tumors that are common. They cause problems if they grow, sometimes they cause heavy periods. Why don't you ask the doctor for a diagnosis, not that non-answer that was given? You could go for a second opinion to a specialist in female problems. Also, check with a naturopath and accupucturist, they can do natural treatments.

I had a friend that was going through this, the doc thought she was too old for birth control pills, eventually they did a hysterectomy. They called it 'dysfunctional uterine bleeding.' Something to do with 'the change.' I know if you are bleeding more than one pad per hour, you should get checked. Or if you're dizzy, or short of breath. My friend actually needed a blood transfusion, she bled so much. Good luck, hope you get to the bottom of it.
