I just cut my finger in a food processor. It looks pretty deep, but how do I know if they will just clean it or stich it?

I just cut my finger in a food processor and I dont want to go to the hospital (terrified) if they are just gonna clean it, I can do that on my own. But if they need to stitch it then I guess I'll go.
P.s. Believe it or not i was making cookies.

here is the guideline doctors go by: if the cut is through the fat layer it needs stitches. And you only have an 8 to 12 hour window to get stitches. Over that period of time the risk of infection is too great. so if the cut is through the fat and you can see the flesh go get stitches.

if applting pressure to the cut with a clean towel or gauze stops the bleeding in 5 minutes, you may be okay to just bandage it. If it continues to bleed, go to the er.

depends on whether you think you can stop the bleeding. It also depends on the insurance company.

if the food processor was moving, you should probably go to the hospital.

If it won't stop bleeding, go to the ER or Urgent Care. If it does, and you can clean it and bandage it, make an appointment for your doctor.

ER, most likely they will stitch it. They always clean wounds before doing any other procedure.
And OWWWW, I don't even want to know how you managed to do this.

Go to the doctor. It will be beneficial if they only end up cleaning it.

If it is deep they will have to stitch it or it will never heal.
