Yes, the exhaust fumes could kill you. You should always open the outside garage door at least a few feet if you turn the car on in the garage to let the fumes escape.

Here is a website news article of when the carbon monoxide still entered the home and almost killed the family because he left the car running in the garage. The baby almost died. The whole family almost did. It isn't worth it. Be safe, not sorry. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/9812334/detail.html

It's the same reason why you need to have a chiminey in your house to vent out dioxides. When you start a fire when camping you can see the smoke and harmful gasses but when you burn oil or gas you don't see the harmful smoke. The exhaust from your car gives out the same harmful smoke but it's clear and in a gas form. If you have this in a non-vented area. Your garage will fill with this gas and you'll get light headed. The light headed-ness will cause you to pass out (lack of oxogen to the brain) then you'll eventually die becuase you won't be breathing enough oxogen. It's easy to do and a lot of people commit suicide doing this so be careful and make sure a door or window is open.

the car exhaust fumes is mainly carbon monoxide which is poisonous to humans. When the garage is closed the toxic gas builds up and when you breath large quantities of it you die. Unlike most gases carbon monoxide is orderless so you won't be able to smell it and it makes you lethargic. So most ppl just fall asleep in the car and the die coz they can't get enough oxygen. you can also use that method to commit suicide.

Because a dangerous gas called carbon monoxide comes out of taht little pipe in the back of your car. When you breathe in carbon monoxide, you die. Trapping yourself with the car in a garage also traps the gas. All the gas takes over the oxygen in the air. You then pass out and die. :)

CO (Carbon Monxide) builds up and believe it or not can come back through the muffler back into the car or come from the back seat up in the cab area. I have seen way to many of these. You should never do this as CO is colorless, and orderless more people get killed this way than it's recognized.

is this a joke? everybody knows that carbon monoxide gas is released in the exhaust of internal combustion engines. carbon monoxide is odorless and colorless. you don't know it's there. carbon monoxide is poisonous. it eats up the oxygen in the closed environment of the closed garage and effects your lungs so that they can't process the oxygen in the air. you just get sleepy and go to sleep and die. that's about it.

Carbon monoxide is poisonous - that's why it kills people. Open the garage door so it can air out.
