failing one class in high school will not even require you to stay an extra year. you just have to take it either during summer school, or take it the next year. as a 9th grader, you have 3 more years to retake a class, as well as 4 summers if you don't have room in your schedule to take it later.

but no, taking 5 years of high school will not effect your chances of getting accepted into college. many people have to take more than 4 years, usually due to things such as pregnancy, serious illness, etc. that prevents long-term attendance at school.

No. You still have every chance of bring accepted to a college. Repeating a grade may actually be a benefit in the long run, especially if you use the opportunity to improve your overall grades. For example, someone who just scrapes by each year but never fails any classes does not necessarily look better than someone who fails grade nine but uses the opportunity to pull his or her socks up and do better the next four years. Sometimes people fail subjects because they have fallen behind over a period of years, especially in high school where the subjects (especially math) tend to build on the years before. A little uncertainty on a topic back in grade 6 or 7 can be a major gap in your knowledge by high school. The people who decide who to admit to colleges are human and understand these things, and are capable of being impressed if you show a sincere willingness to use your second chance to improve yourself.

Don't despair. If you want to skip community college and get into a good college, it is still possible. You will have to seriously shape up, and double up on classes. Try your best to graduate with your class because no one wants to sit five years in high school. Keep in mind two things, some colleges give application points for seeing significant academic improvement since 9th grade, and some other colleges don't even count freshmen grades.

Take summer school, and don't screw up again. If you do that you will most liekly get into a state college.

Stop being paranoid! Just do your very best and no doubt you not fail. Worrying will prevent you from doing your best. If you do your very best and still fail, it's not the end of the world. You can make it up without major consequences.

Sometimes you can double up on classes so you don't have to graduate a year later. Even if you dont get into a college that you want, you can always get into community colleges. Some people that I know said they were pretty good.

No, you'll be fine, but why don't you see about making up the class during summer school or through a community college. Maybe you could take it in place of an elective during another year of school. I'm assuming you are not a senior this year, but I don't know.

no you can still get into college- even if you're gpa isn't good they always have a special list where you start on academic probation but they only allow so many a year and the more community service groups you belong to the better ie volunteering, school organizations, sports etc
