CALL YOUR DOCTOR WHEN YOU TAKE THE TEST. THEY WILL DETERMINE WHEN THEY WANT TO SEE YOU. THEY USUALLY MAKE YOUR FIRST APPOINTMENT ABOUT 8-10 WEEKS, UNLESS THERE ARE PAST PROBLEMS.

After my miscarriage last year, anytime I find out I am pregnant I will be calling the doctor to make an appointment and get blood work started almost before the pee dries on the stick! With my current pregnancy it was found the I had some low levels that could be helped (not hCG). Since I went had called the doctor early, I was able to be put on medication sooner.

I would suggest that whether you have medical issues or not, it is a good idea to get in touch with an OB as early in the pregnancy as possible.

(BTW, even as early as 5-6 weeks a baby [and baby's heartbeat] can be seen via vaginal ultrasound.)

Hu, yesterday! Why are you waiting? How would you feel if the doctor told you there was a problem with your baby that he could have helped with if only you had come in sooner. You should at least be on prenatal vitamins now.

Are you going to choose the cost of the visit over the well being of your child?

I started seeing the doctor at about 5 weeks with both my pregnancies. The sooner you get prenatal care the healthier the pregnancy for you and the baby. And if there is any kind of complications the doctor can address it sooner.

Go now. There are some factors that could put you and your baby in harms way early on, such as a vitamin deficiency, blood pressure problems, etc. not to mention that you should really be on prenatal vitamins.
Congratulations, by the way:)

As soon as you know you are pregnant. Early care is a good thing and normally to begin with its only once a month. If you don't have a family doctor already you will at least be able to find one you are confortable with and get use to. Good luck.

Sorry I am not going to the doctor if you are having a baby, but YOU should probably go as soon as possible in order to start on prenatal vitamins, if you haven't already. Have a happy pregnancy!

If you have taken a home pregnancy test and it was positive then you need to call your doctor now. My first prenatal appointment and ultrasound was done at 6 weeks.

Most people would start going at about 8-9 weeks. This allows the doctor/midwife time to arrange your first ultrasound etc.
However, if you have existing problems like diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, etc you should start seeing your carer at about 6 weeks.

You should go asap once you find out. It's easier to guess the conception date and due date if you go early. It also increases the chance of finding out if anything's wrong or preventing any thing from going wrong.
