In my area everyone has wells for water. I used a lead air gun on styrofoam which went through. ShouldIworry?

I shot off about 20-30 shots and checked my score and that's when I found out what was happening, they were going through. It's about 250-300 feet or so from the well. I tried locating the pellets but the ground was muddy.

20 or 30 shots are probably not an issue.

And it's not like you were shooting them right into the well.

It would take a while for the lead to reach the water through the soil, and it's not especially soluble in rainwater or anything so it's not a big deal.

Though you probably shouldn't do it every day. Stick a piece of wood behind the target next time.

20-30 shots is not going to cause issue. If you had poured liquid lead into the well - ok then yes there would be a problem. You me our kids, their kids and their kids will all be dead before that lead could erode and seep into the water supply. Also the wells are probably deep and the shots will be a the surface.

You were smart ot be alarmed, and yeah if the lead got into the water supply that could be very hadardous to the health of people who drink it.

Please notify the owners of the well and be truthful, they will decide the best option from there. Trust me if you are worried about getting in trouble for doing it imagine how bad you'd feel if someone were to get seriosuly ill (or worse) because you didnt say anything.

I wouldn't shoot any more in, but it took years drinking from lead pipes for it to worry the romans; and a good bit of gnawing on lead chip paint to cause problems... so sweet.

Not to say it is good...

No you would have to had put alot of lead in ur well for it to harm you. And the bullets prob didnt make it in to it. so no worries
