Because for whatever reason, we as an American Society like to see people crash & burn. We like to see smug smart talking, I'm invincible people be shown that they are human & get their comeuppance. ie w/ this Britney issue, a co-worker tells me, 'I feel sorry for the kids' Why? 'B/c they either have to go with her crazy *** or Kevin Federline talk about sophie's choice'

Not about her 'breakdown' but about how crappy they both are, we just like seeing people be as small & powerless as your average joe I guess.

I think for some people, they really don't like the objects of the media's frenzy. So that's why they mock Britney or Anna.

I think some people are jealous of other's success or attention, and enjoy seeing someone who "made it", fail or "lose it".

On the other hand, I could care less about either of the people you mentioned, so I don't make comments about them good or bad.

Wow, I have to agree with you. Most people are trapped in misery and as a result enjoy seeing others down for there satisfaction and gratification. It's sad,I guess that's why the saying goes misery loves company.
