I would assume that if it was bad, the doctor would have told you and told you of any complications. Your best bet is to call and ask your doctor.

It's a description of the position of the placenta in the uterus - the placenta is attached to the front wall of the uterus, with your baby sitting in behind.

More commonly, the placenta is located on the posterior (back)wall of the uterus, near your spine, with the baby out in front.

So you're special!

It wont make a lick of difference to your baby, but for you it may mean that your tummy feels a little different from the outside to what you were expecting, and may also mean that you won't feel or see the baby kicking the way you might expect, especially earlier in the pregnancy.

You might also find it a bit more difficult hearing the baby's heartbeat because the placenta will come between the doppler and your baby.

Sometimes, anterior placentas actually move/grow into a more normal posterior position later in the pregnancy.

Generally speaking, having an anterior placenta is no risk to you or your baby.

Best of luck.

I had an anterior placenta in my previous pregnancy, as well as in this one (I just had an ultrasound last week that confirmed it). The ultrasound tech said that's actually the best place for it, if that makes you feel any better...

i have that too...it is common, it just means that the placenta is in the front, not on the back of your uterus, if that makes sense...my doctor said it will just mean that i will not feel movement as strongly or as early as my other pregnancies, so far his words are ringing true. The only time I believe you need to worry about it is if it is covering the cervix, which it is not.
