No place to plug it in eh? I would guess it uses an old parallel port that is about 2.5 inches wide right? If so you could buy an expansion card for your computer to add the parallel port. You could also check Circuit City or Office Depot to see if they have a simple adapter that can convert it to a serial port, if you have a serial port.

EDIT: I just checked the spec sheet for it at www.hp.com and it seems to be compatible with USB as well. You should go to the store and buy a USB cable for it and use that.

Go to the Vista Hardware Compatibility List at Microsoft TechNet. You can browse through the lists of compatable Vista printers and other device. Older hardware on a new OS can be a problem for sure.

I got a new computer too and I couldn't connect my HP Office Jet G85. If you can use a usb on your hpdeskjet 960c use it.That was the only way that I could connect my printer.
I don't think Vista sucks it's just a little bit of a pain always asking me if I allow it or not.

Can you change the cord to a usb one, if not then you will need to match a new printer to the connection port on the new pc..
