There testing performance has been very consistant and they were doing a very good job so they might get atleast 5 podiums and maybe even a victory.

Maybe a couple.
If Ferrari/McLaren/Renault are the top 3 teams, and if all of their 6 drivers "bring their car home" with a top 3-like finish, then the best the BMW can do is 7th and 8th.
Okay, that's not a realistic picture, but it's equally not realistic to expect BMW to blitz the field everytime and end up on the top step of the podium "every now and then". Sure, they have been pretty impressive in testing, but if you look at for example Honda in 2004, even though they were the best of the rest, they couldn't crack a single win. They also looked pretty impressive in testing leading up to 2005 season, but they did badly once the championship got under way.
Until 2005, BMW were the midfield Sauber team. Despite the huge upgrade they have had, midfield teams don't become race winners overnight, or in 2 years even. Maybe they might have a bad year like Toyota in 2006.
I may be wrong, but I just can't see them winning a single race just yet.

While BMW might get a podium or two this year, they most definitely will NOT win a race unless something like what happened in Hungary last year happens again. You know, Jenson became the winner there and all.... I think they can achieve upto 7 out of 17 possible podiums this year.

BMW have shown great promise in testing. However we have seen this many times before - anyone remember Honda last year?

I think the BMW Sauber is going to be fast and probably very reliable. They will be in the same place as Honda - scrabbling for the points left after McLaren, Ferrari and - later in the season - Renault have their points. I don't think Renault are going to be as 'on-it' as they have been as I don't think that Fisichella can lead the team, and Heikki may make waves towards the end of the season but I think in race conditions his lack of experience may show. Hamilton will have less problems in the McLaren as Alonso is a strong team leader.

BMW will hit the podium a few times, but it will take a few accidents and some (un)favourable conditions to knock out the front runners. McLaren I think have the main problem with this as both Alonso and Hamilton are new to McLaren cars. One of BMWs strengths this year is that they have the same driver line-up.

They might sneak a win in the middle of the season, then have a good end of season but thats it.

I think it is optimistic to anticipate more than a handful of podiums for BMW/Sauber. They seem to have made some strides, but historically have lacked the consistency and speed to compete for more than 6-10th place, barring odd conditions. Testing is not racing, thus little can be ascertained by the early reports of their pace. They are going to have to prove something in some races before I start jumping on their bandwagon. Therefore, I would gladly take your bet on winning a race.....I don't think it will happen unless some strange events take place.

They will definately NOT win a race.in the last 25 odd years, only Ferrari, Mclaren, Williams and Renault (Benetton) have won races EXCEPT for a very few exceptional races where Jordan, etc have won. BMW will not win a race this year

As for podiums, they might get 2 or 3 at most.

They have the fastest car in 2007, but no so fast drivers.
They may get about 4 to 5 podiums/.
A race win is difficult for them.
McLaren is the fastest car having best drivers

Of course the'll be on podium. They made great progresses in the last year, thanks for this young team completed by Nick and Robert. Eventhough I heard Heidfeld saying that he is not optimistic for the 2007 season, I'm sure that they will have a word to say. I don't know if they manage to get a first place, but hope to make good races.

Not sure if they can win a race, but they have made good progress and I'm absolutely sure they can score a few podiums. But Heidfeld may be on the off (did you see his beard????:O). My money for BMW is on Kubica.

Maybe because I'm from Eastern Europe. Who knows? But he is a great driver with big potential. I'd love to see him at the top one day. Btw, he came to F1 from the World Series by Renault.

I think they will do only a couple of podiums and won´t be able to win a race in normal conditions ( it can happens like Panis in Monaco, Fisichella in Brazil or Herbert in Germany) but they are still too far away from the top teams.
