Any new GM is good, they have changed as a company. Ford has all kinds of problems, and DaimlerChrysler has their issues. Saturn, a division of GM is just great now, dethroning the CAmry to take the spot of best sedan. Surprisingly, Toyota has slipped in quality and relaibility with more recalls in than cars made in the last three years, just check this out: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2006/10/toyota_quality.html

Any small American car or large truck with a large engine that does not have to work hard will last you a long time. Also get an automatic Transmission so you will not be abusing the clutch.
I usually get 200K plus miles on my Saturns. That is not counting the 100K miles I put on it towing behind my motorhome.
My latest is a 2007 Saturn Vue with a 250 HP V-6 that will be towed behind my motorhome for the next 10 years. It should have 300K when I'm done with it.

4 of the past 5 years, GM's Oshawa plant has won the JD Power award for producing the best quality cars in all of North and South America.... So if you want a brand new car, look at the Impala, Monte Carlo, Buick Lacrosse, or the Gran prix... If you want a Consumer's Report Recommended best buy for a used, look at the Buick Century , Regal, Or Chev Lumina... also previously built in the Oshawa plant

Chryslers have issues with them at times .. so is most of GM with intake leaks.... Ford's major thing as of late has been electrical problems more than any other issue.
But haven't heard any real problems with saturn (which is a GM division).... may want to research car brands and car lines as some car lines have serious problems whereas others don't report too many issues... for instance, I've seen car makers have no problems with one line of car but have a completely different line by the same maker be nightmares.

Please trust me, the Doge Charger or Dodge Magnum is your best choice. Any Dodge or Chrysler is probably your best bet. They have high powered engines but if you want fuel efficient you can get a small block v8 or a v6. They look awesome and they last. I have a Dodge Durango and it runs great and Dodge comes with good warentees and service. GO MOPAR!

Chevrolet, hands down. They get better gas mileage than others and GM provides a free 100,000 mile warranty on the drive train. They are putting their money where their mouth is...
