ate n ate, or nine and seven...perhaps a wild card spot...they are in the process of learning how to play together and should improve...

holy moly, my 9ers are getting some notice. Freaking cool. As of right now though, I cant really call next season. The drafts is still out there, the FA period is still out there. Norv Turner leaving could easily set us back a year or two. I cant really put into words how much the combo of experience, better talent, Trent Dilfer and Turner have helped Alex Smith over the course of last yea. Smith will really need to step up, he doesn't have to be a pro bowler (although it wouldn't hurt) but at least continue to show improvement like he did this past year. He must limit his mistakes and even though they weren't hard to improve on, Smith's numbers went up rather well last year, completion percentage went up around 8% and his over all QB rating went up 34 points to a decent 75.0. Gore has to be remain stable, he had 2180 total yards last year, if he can at least hit 2000 next year that'll pass. Gotta hold onto the ball though, he had a rash of fumbles early, but then seemed to get it together as the season went by. The wide outs and Vernon need to be able to get open more regularly and break one off every now and again. The o line, even though the potential has always been there, was a pleasant surprise, they need to hold up the way we did this past year, Smith was sacked about 35 times, on average a full sack less then the season before. On D we need more 3 and outs, more pressure on the QB, they basically have to come together and to tie it all in together, we HAVE to remain injury free. Will we make the playoffs next year? Like I said, I can't say, but I'll settle for seeing some improving like we have been lately. I will however, take the sleeper roll label. If you want numbers, I'll play it safe and take a 8-8 record.

At least Playoffs,
They were 1 game away from the wild card, and 2 away from the division. With an upgrade on defense (through FA and Draft) and an improving offense, the niners are sure to be a top contender in the NFC. ;-)

They could go a long way depending on how well they spend their money on the free agent pool. They should pick up a veteran CB from the free agent market, draft a WR or LB in the first round, get bigger and faster in the DL, pick up a back-up stud RB. A more rational record is 9-7, beating the Cardinals twice, the Seahawks once, and sweeping the Rams. I would like to see them go 10-6, though.

i think 9-7 at least. losing norv turner hurts the offense a little, but our asst coaches know norvs system to alex, gore, and vernon will still be successful. just watch out for that trio, they are waiting to explode. our D is kinda bad but we have tons of cap space and will go hard after adalius thomas and nate clements. and we have about 8 picks in the first 4 rounds of this years draft. we should at least be division champs because we swept seattle last year. we should have swept st louis except they got a last second TD to win. and we lost 2 close games to ari. we can sweep out division basically.

with no major injuries the playoffs the NFC isn't really that strong at this time.
