I did it once. Maybe my saliva is more acidic than the kid that used over 1000 licks, because it took me 674 licks to reach the center. Mind you, that was simply to reach the center, not to completely remove the hard candy part from around it.

Some kid in Michigan, (I think) actually did the experiment a few months ago, and it was featured on the news. I don't remember the exact count, but it was in the thousands,
