I've heard that alot of people have had false negative hpts, but come to find out they are really pregnant. How common are they? How many months were you until you got a positive?

There is a great website out there www.peeonastick.com. It tells all about the different brands of HPT's and give a rating on which are the most accurate and how long you need to wait to take one.

It is common to get a false positive and there are some women who experience no HCG levels in their urine. One of my fiends has two children and never tested positive on a HCG test ever with each!

Good luck and i hope the info on the website helps to answer some more of your questions...it answered mine!

A false negative is not extremely common, but definitely much more common than a false POSITIVE. It basically happens when there isn't enough hormone to detect pregnancy with a pregnany test. Most tests aren't sensitive enough to detect very early pregnancy, and some women test too early. The best thing to do if you think your pregnant and have been testing negative, is to go to the doctor and have a blood test done. They are 100% and can detect the hormone usually 48 hours after ovulation. Hope this helps!!!

all the different test out on the market detect the hcg hormone at different levels. if one test is negative, you could still be pregnant, it's just that your body is not producing enough hcg for that particular test to detect it. i couldn't get a test to come out positive with my second child until i was about 2 months pregnant.
