Alchemy is real and you can actually get a job experimenting with it if you go into nuclear chemistry and stuff. No transmutaion circles, just high amounts of energy and radiation. They did turn some lead into gold but it cost a ton to do. Really its not as fun in real life as in stories.

alchemy was real in every sense of the word. Alchemy is yesterdays chemistry the knowledge of elements & chemicals,etc

before chemistry was called chemistry, it was called alchemy. People believed that if you mixed certain elements together, you could create gold. Some alchemists did produce a certain product however, that represented itself as gold, but they only produced a form of copper. Interesting, huh?

Actually, I remember seeing that some scientists HAVE succeeded in turning lead into a small amount of gold.
However, the cost of the procedure far outweighed the value of the gold.
