I agree with the other two posters. But one suggestion ... DO NOT go to Vista so soon. I mean, it's your choice.

But there's still quite a bit of software/hardware compatability issues with it. Give it a few more months, just to be on the safe side. And I'd suggest getting something a little more than Home Basic. I've heard, and seen a little, that it's really shitty.

But that's just a suggestion. =)

Since it happens in multiple games, it's probably a driver issue. Download the latest drivers for your vid card from NVidia, not the cards manufacturer. I warn you though, the NForce driver is a honking huge download since it covers all the cards but it automatically installs the correct one. Check out CoolBits if you want to overclock that card. I had the 6200 and regularly got ~50Mhz extra out of the proc and ~100Mhz out of the ram. It helps a bit. RivaTuner is awsome but very technical.Check them out.
While you're at it, do the same for your sound card. I've had this problem and most of the time one or the other fixes the issue.
Since you're updating, check the game sites for patches. These fix bugs and correct other issues.
As for Vista, I've seen no reason to upgrade (downgrade, really). I never touch a new M$ OS for at least a year. It takes that long to make it work half way right. Hell, XP Pro didn't function half way right until SP2 and that caused as many problems as it solved but it's your comp.
Good luck!

ideal how previous is your laptop and does it freeze on all video games? i might say you the two could delete some records... run disk defragmenter... and how lots ram do you have in it you've gotten the means to prefer to now no longer have sufficient to run each and all of the training your try to play. additionally if its on line it would prefer to be your internet..

your best bet would be your drivers or just the video card in general, depending on the games you are trying to play
