Please help me I mean the K-Mart superstore

Maybe it stands for Kresge. Years ago, when they had the old five and dimes around, they used to be S. S. Kresge. I don't know if the nametags say it now, but in fine print under an associates name, it used to say "An affiliate of S. S. Kresge Corp." Which is why I think the "K" in K mart is what it means. But it would sound funny if they were to name their store Kresge's mart. I just looked it up, this all occured in 1977 when they changed their name to K-Mart. They also own the Jupiter stores that were around.

Kresge. But "Kresge-Mart" would confuse people with "Steinmart", I guess...
